Areas of Work | Our History | Disability in Sri Lanka | MENCAFEP Training | How MENCAFEP is Run

With these three elder stateswomen as models, carers radiate enthusiasm, learning and caring. “They are very close to. us,” Miranda says of the children, “and we are very close to them”
Over the years, these three women have been offered jobs with large organisations. As well as teaching posts at Government schools, for considerably more pay and a State pension at the end of the day. However, none have accepted or. left -
“For children in Government schools there are teachers,” Miranda says, “but for these children there are very few and in many areas of Sri Lanka no staff of any kind at all.”
Let us give Shyamalie the last words, “some of my friends think I have a difficult job, but I tell them if you love the job it is easy.”
Editors note: Without our friends support over the years, Shyamalie, Miranda, Sunetha and the rest of the women and men who work at MENCAFEP, could not and would not have been able to able to develop into the human beings that they are today. In a world full of violence, strife and war, with your continued and fantastic help, MENCAFEP is not only giving dignity back to disabled children and their families. It Is also giving the world women and men, who by their actions, dedication, care and love, can only make the world a better place. THANK YOU, ALL OF YOU OUT THERE IN THE GLOBAL VILLAGE FOR BELIEVING IN US.
